We presently have a Black Copper Maran Rooster OVER Blue Copper Maran Hens, see what that means for you below! Its a great pairing we're quite excited for! You'll hatch a mix of chicks: primarily Black Copper Marans and Blue Copper Marans, with roughly a 50/50 split, as the black and blue genes mix, resulting in both solid blacks and blues, all carrying that distinctive copper lacing, you should expect beautiful, dark-brown eggs from the resulting hens. 
Here's the breakdown:
Black Copper Rooster x Blue Copper Hen: This pairing introduces the 'B' (black) and 'b' (blue) alleles.
Possible Chicks:
Black Copper (BB): Chicks inherit black from both parents.
Blue Copper (Bb): Chicks inherit black from one and blue from the other, resulting in the blue-feathered birds.
No Splash: Since you're not breeding blue with blue (or splash), you won't get splash chicks.
Why it works: Black and blue are different expressions of the same gene, so they produce beautiful offspring without diluting the Maran traits, including the dark egg color. 
You're essentially getting a mix of the two most popular Copper Maran colors, ensuring you get gorgeous birds and excellent dark-brown eggs.
