Hedemora UNSEXED Chicks AND Pullets

**This listing is for Hedemore UNSEXED Chicks** THEY WILL BE VERY LIMITED

The Hedemora chicken is a rare, hardy Swedish landrace breed known for thriving in cold climates, featuring unique "woolly" feathering or smooth plumage, docile personalities, and decent production of small, creamy eggs, making them excellent heritage birds for homesteads seeking resilience and charm. They are small-to-medium sized, good foragers, and can have black skin (fibromelanosis), offering diversity to flocks.

Key Characteristics:

  • Egg Production: Around 150 small to medium, cream-colored eggs per year, laying well even in winter.
  • Broodiness: Hens are often broody and make good mothers, allowing for natural hatching.
  • Size: Small to medium; hens about 4 lbs, roosters 5-6 lbs
  • Origin: Sweden, a centuries-old natural landrace (Hedemorahöns).
  • Hardiness: Exceptionally cold-hardy due to dense downy feathers, small combs/wattles, and compact bodies.
  • Appearance: Diverse colors; some have silky, fur-like "woolly" feathers or feathered legs; some have black skin, bones, and organs (fibromelanosis).
  • Temperament: Calm, friendly, docile, and good for families or confinement.
